Looking Out for Each Other: Understanding Neglect

At school, we want to make sure that every student feels safe, cared for, and supported. Sometimes, people might not get all the things they need to be happy and healthy, like enough food, warm clothes, or someone to check in on how they’re feeling.

This is called neglect, and it can be tough to talk about. If you ever feel like you're not getting the care you need or notice a friend who might be struggling, it’s always okay to reach out for help. Talking to a trusted adult can make a big difference.

Childline has a helpful booklet called ‘Neglect Matters’, which explains what neglect is and how to get support. You can find it here.

If you’d rather talk to someone in school, or you're worried that someone you know may be struggling, please speak to your Form Tutor, your Progress Leader; our Chaplain, any of our Pastoral Support Team or a member of the Safeguarding Team who are always happy to listen and help. You’re never alone, and there are always people who care and want to support you.
