The week of wet weather broke a little for us as the whole school headed to Wavertree Athletics Centre for School Sports Day! 

The event opened with a fantastic song from Layel in Year 7 who battled some nerves to give an accomplished performance to rapturous applause. This was followed by a dazzling dance performance from students across the year groups to a thumping soundtrack.

With the entertainment concluded events moved on to the traditional parade of flags before students got stuck into the events that included the obstacle course, ball and spoon, welly wanging, hula hooping, long jump, standing jump, high jump, javelin, shot and a number of different track races.

While students weren't competing they could watch from the stands, get some snacks from the tuck shop, get made up with some face painting, or just cringe at some terrible jokes from our commentary team.

The scores from each event were tallied under the watchful eye of Mr Torpey who declared our winners to be Maria! Congratulations to them, and all students who competed in events throughout the day.

A special mention goes to the staff relay team who have made two successful title defences to win the Staff vs Sixth Form relay race for the third year running. This year it was close!
