Why should you read around your subject?
One of the best ways a student can stand out during their Sixth Form studies is through the amount of independent study they undertake outside of the classroom. Regardless of their future plans, the ability to extend knowledge and research independently is an invaluable skill. This will support their studies at further and higher education; and any future job applications or interviews. All universities, traineeships and employers expect more than classroom knowledge which is why independent activities are important. The Wider Reading booklets for Sixth Form can be found here. Subject teachers will discuss texts with students individually and upon completion, students summarise their learning and how they can apply it to their learning in the classroom.
